Blues Fest

Ok whoa the line up is ridiculous. My brother Sean is like an overgrown 12 year old on Christmas morning when he talks about who is playing. For the short time I have left in Ottawa, there is actually quite abit of goodness going on which would make one think that this is perhaps a happening city. It is, in the summer. Usually at home I listen to the R&B or Gospel station. This morning I tuned in to ALT COUNTRY. Lucinda just played. Followed by Emmylou I once saw Emmylou play on the O, BROTHER, WHERE ART THOU tour and she totally floored me. Epic, nostalgic, twangy and delicious. We still had the land in Almonte at the time - which I almost visited the other day 'cause we were 5km away at the Petro Canada. I envisioned walking on the land for a visit and my eyes welled up with the realization that I couldn't. I would totally break down - but that's another story.I need to find me some borderline hippies to go see Widespread Panic. I am under strict instructions from Sean, who doesn't live here, and for lack of Grateful Dead, WP is the new follow on tour band. He is so beyond stoked that I will be seeing them live at the blues fest - I'm going to need to go with someone that at least sort of gets it. There will probably be people there that do. I am ready to transport into that cosmic loophole, for the sake of family, for the sake of music.
